El Paso Medical Network exists for one reason: to keep independent private practice viable in El Paso by taking the administrative weight of health insurance off the physicians who carry it.
Who We Are
EPMN is an independent practice association owned and led by a board of El Paso physicians who live here, practice here, and face the same administrative burden as the members they serve. For more than two decades we have been dedicated to one mission: supporting physicians in independent private practice.
Credentialing, enrollment, and managed care contracting are full-time functions. Very few independent practices can afford to staff them properly, and the cost of getting them wrong is measured in denied claims, delayed payment, and lost network participation. EPMN centralizes that work so a solo practitioner has the same administrative capability as a hospital-employed group.
Our administrative operations are performed with Cypress Healthcare Consultants, and credentialing runs through an NCQA Certified Credentialing Verification Organization. Together that means one application, verified once, accepted across dozens of health plans.

What a "Messenger Model IPA" Actually Means
An independent practice association is an organization of independent physicians who join together for administrative purposes while remaining separately owned practices. In a messenger model, the IPA communicates payor contract terms to its members and each practice independently decides whether to accept them. EPMN does not negotiate price collectively on behalf of the group.
The practical effect for your practice: access to dozens of agreements through one process, with your independence and your decision-making intact. You choose which plans to join, and you can opt into new agreements as they become available.

EPMN membership does not change your ownership, your staffing, or your clinical autonomy. It changes who handles the paperwork.

Every payor agreement is opt-in. You select the health plans and networks that fit your practice and your patient mix.

Verification through our NCQA Certified CVO is accepted by participating plans, replacing a separate credentialing cycle with each one.
